The rain is coming in sidewards and walking the dogs is like flying two kites. Can we hibernate ’til Spring? Thankfully, there have been some little rays of sunshine here at Martha’s Tea Party HQ so far this week.
1. Orange and Chocolate Chip Loaf
We have been thinking that it would be a good idea to have pictures of all our available cakes, as we can never get to grips with cookery books without the pictures – so why should our website be any different. It’s also a great excuse to bake.
We make our Chocolate and Orange Loaf Cake with whole oranges. Thats right, WHOLE oranges. It means the cake benefits from not only the juice but also the subtle flavour provided from the rind.
Served with some freshly brewed Earl Grey Supreme, it certainly helped brighten our cloudy day.
2. Delivery from Moo
Almost too cute to give away… almost.
3. Thrifting Joy!
We took an impromptu trip out to the White Lion in Hartley Wintney. Managed to score some lovely vintage glass cake stands, two pairs of sugar tongs and a cheeky bit of Chocolate Tiffin in the Tea Room.
Our other great find was this little hoard of Royal Albert “Sweet Violets”. We’re still undecided as to whether the plates will remain as is or whether we’ll drill them for cake stands. It’s always a dilemma we face when we find the slightly bigger side plates that would be just perfect for the middle tier on a 3 tier cake stand. If we decide on the latter, we’ll be sure to show you the finished article.

P.S. What cheers you up when the weather is gloomy?
